In This World

ABOUT
An updated version of a Youtheatre classic, coming to stage and screen.
An award-winning production that delivers an unflinching and incisive look at race, friendship, and class divides.
Bijou is from a privileged background. Neyssa is a recent Jamaican immigrant struggling to fit in. They wait together in detention after getting into a vicious fight at school. As the girls confront each other about what happened, they realize that a deeper tragedy lies between them.
They are forced to choose between doing what they are taught and making a choice that could have lasting consequences.
Press
“In This World is relevant and unflinching.”
– Kathryn Greenaway, The Gazette (2009)
“Moscovitch’s intense script, directed by Youtheatre’s Michel Lefebvre, captures the characters’ raw anger and pain – the sense of abandonment, worry how parents will react, concern about peers. ” -Jon Kaplan, Now Toronto (2010)
“Hannah Moscovitch play tackles tough issues for young audiences but avoids easy answers.”
-Joff Schmidt, CBC News (2016)
